Division of Facilities Management – Northern DivisionThe Division provides customer‑driven facilities management to all CDHS agencies and offices. Services include building and grounds maintenance, custodial, capital construction, utilities, vehicle fleet, space leasing, and facilities planning. The Division serves 1,400 acres, 349 buildings, and approximately 1.9 million square feet across the Northern Region.
Responsibilities- Apply horticultural skills to tree, shrub, and lawn maintenance using herbicides and pesticides pursuant to federal and state regulations.
- Manicure and shape shrubs with electric trimmers.
- Operate irrigation systems, including Maxicom satellite and other state systems, and perform irrigation maintenance, repair, and installation.
- Operate lawn mowers, tractors, dump trucks, snow plows, trenchers, and state vehicles.
- Remove ice, snow, debris, and sand from parking lots, walkways, and door entrances to prevent hazardous accidents.
- Monitor and repair slip, trip, and fall hazards on sidewalks, pathways, and building entrances.
- Repair roads and streets using tools and materials in accordance with state and federal regulation.
- Assist department leads in the design and implementation of landscaping projects, including cost estimating and project management.
- Support electrical, plumbing, and construction departments by removing building debris, excavating electric and plumbing ditches, and supporting running lines.
- Perform other duties as assigned, such as water main repairs.
- Demonstrate proper operation of jackhammer, lawnmower, Skid Steer Loader, tamper, electrical, gas, and hand tools.
- Report any and all maintenance issues or malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Operate equipment that requires a CDL, including dump truck with air brakes.
- One year of large‑scale landscaping, grounds maintenance, and irrigation experience in environments such as parks, golf courses, schools, or campuses.
- Experience designing and maintaining large landscaping projects.
- Must successfully pass Motor Vehicle Checks.
- Must possess a valid, non‑restricted Colorado Driver’s License (out‑of‑state holders must obtain a valid, non‑restricted Colorado license within 30 days of employment start date).
- State of Colorado residency is required at the time of application and during employment.
- Full pre‑employment criminal background check is required. Felony convictions, moral turpitude convictions, or misdemeanor convictions related to job duties may disqualify you.
- Must be willing to submit and pass a full background check.
- Must be available for call back to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay and/or without interruption.
- Must be available for shift work, including coverage outside normal business hours due to weather such as snow removal and emergencies.
- Must be willing to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide a medical exemption or a religious exemption letter.
- Must successfully pass a Tuberculosis (TB) test.
- Must be willing to drive state vehicles and travel to training and meetings as required.
