Position Summary

Housing Resource Specialist helps People We Serve (PSW) find and maintain housing using the Federal and State voucher systems. The specialist ensures participants and landlords meet voucher guidelines and assists participants in finding alternative housing as needed.

Team Specific Information:
The Rental Assistance Housing Department manages over 600 housing vouchers in the community and assists in all aspects of maintaining vouchers—signing leases, completing inspections, coordinating with landlords, etc.

Job Duties & Functions
  • Complete all paperwork required for HUD/Division of Housing or other programs on a timely basis.
  • Act as liaison between tenant and landlord.
  • Provide information on vacancies, help negotiate leases, and fill vacancies promptly.
  • Assist in assuring housing quality standards by completing annual/biennial/special inspections.
  • Maintain communication with case management staff regarding participant status and assess participants’ potential for independent living.
  • Respond to issues raised by participants, landlords, and clinical staff regarding housing.
  • For project‑based voucher caseloads on site: 2 hrs per week for up to 49 holders, 3 hrs for 50 or more.
  • Maintain familiarity with contract law related to apartment leasing and help resolve landlord disputes and evictions.
  • Maintain the rental assistance caseload in accordance with Well Power standards and HUD/Division of Housing regulations.
  • Support the team by obtaining landlord resources, training, and client referrals.
  • Maintain a trauma‑informed environment of wellbeing.
  • Meet documentation and scanning expectations as defined by team management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, human services, or another related field required.
Experience
  • Experience with Housing Vouchers, low‑income housing, or similar equivalent experience preferred.
Licensure / Certification / Registration
  • Proficiency with HUD Enterprise Income Verification (EIV) web‑based computer system.
  • Certification to perform HUD Housing Quality Standards inspections.
  • One year of experience using the Colorado Division of Housing (DOH) Elite Super User computer system earns a $1/hour salary increase.
  • One year experience with the Colorado Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) performing intakes, exits, updates, and reports.
  • One year experience administering various Well Power rental assistance programs.
Work Location

This is a hybrid opportunity open to folks residing in the Greater Denver Metro area.

Shift / Hours

This is a Monday‑Friday opportunity observing standard business hours.

Physical Requirements

Requires sitting, standing, bending, and reaching. May require lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, the telephone, and other office and/or clinical equipment. May require occasional evening or weekend hours. Local driving required.
