Software Engineer, Full Stack Developer, Senior Developer, Backend Developer
Settlor is a fast-growing software company focused on building innovative solutions for the title, escrow, and real estate industries. We are looking for a Junior Web Application Developer who loves solving puzzles, cares about the craft of writing good code, and is hungry to learn what enterprise software engineering really takes. You do not have to have all the answers yet, but you do need at least a year of building web applications and a genuine drive to get better every week.
As a Junior Web Application Developer, your impact is immediate. Working alongside a highly collaborative team, you will ideate, build, design, and maintain the real estate applications our customers use every day. You won't be handed busywork on the edge of the product; you will ship real features, get real code review, and learn directly from the engineers who built the framework, the design patterns, and the back end of our software.
Our team demonstrates and values technical thought leadership, and we expect you to grow into it.
This role is your launch pad. It is the starting line to take on harder problems, own bigger pieces of the system, and grow into a senior engineer here - assuming you are the star we are looking for . . ! We are a small but mighty team, so there is no shortage of opportunity for someone who runs w us what you can do, and the sky is the limit.
This is a hybrid position based in Denver, Colorado. Typical office hours are 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM;
Monday and Thursday at home, Tuesday and Friday in the office, with Wednesday as scheduled weekly/monthly.
- Impact
:
Your work directly influences our customers' experience with our platform and our company and is foundational to our long-term growth and evolution. - Culture
: A collaborative, "no-ego" environment where we celebrate wins and learn from losses. We purposefully operate in a hybrid-office environment because we believe in the power of teams and relationships, and we have learned that both are best built and nurtured in-person. - Growth
:
Often hard to find in the age of A.I. and constant turnover with software engineers, we invest in professional and personal growth as demonstrated by our high-retention of engineers who started their careers with us and have found little reason to look elsewhere. - Customer-Centric
:
We build for the long haul by prioritizing solutions to real-world challenges for our customers. Your work ensures we evolve in lockstep with our users' needs, creating a product they truly love and trust. - Technical Thought Leadership
:
You will work with the people who built this platform, in a codebase where architecture and design patterns are discussed openly and taken seriously. - Self-funded and privately-held
:
Not looking for hyper-growth on an aggressive timeline. We want to build an organization thoughtfully and strategically, with solid processes and culture.
- Technical Troubleshooting
:
Investigate and resolve defects using sound debugging approaches, tools, and techniques, and grow your ability to anticipate problems before they ship. - Agentic Development
:
Use AI coding agents as a daily part of your workflow, with the review discipline to catch what they get wrong before it reaches a customer. - Craft & Code Quality
:
Participate in code review as both author and reviewer, and apply the design patterns and practices the team has established. - Cross-Functional Collaboration
:
Work with product, support, and senior engineers to turn business requirements into working software. - Domain Fluency
:
Learn real estate, title, and escrow terminology well enough to reason about the problems you are solving, not just the tickets you are handed. - Documentation
:
Leave behind clear notes, comments, and documentation so the next person - including future you - can move quickly.
- The "Startup Mindset":
You are comfortable with autonomy, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are willing to wear multiple hats. - Foundational Craft
:
You have 1+ years ideating, building, designing, and maintaining web applications, and you take pride in producing high-quality deliverables. - Accountable Velocity
:
You use agentic coding tools to move faster, and you can explain every line you ship. You know the difference between code that works and code you understand, and you don't confuse the two. - Passion for the Craft
:
You are genuinely curious about what is possible with the languages and frameworks we use, and you want to build an intuitive, cutting-edge web…
