The University of Denver is seeking motivated and qualified Lifeguard Instructors to start classes beginning in January 2026. Lifeguard Instructors play a crucial role in the safety and health of the DU community.

This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

• Prepare for and successfully instruct Red Cross Blended Lifeguarding courses (AP-HSSAQU
  402-BL-r.24, Lifeguarding-BL) at the Daniel L. Ritchie Center.
• Instruct all classes in accordance with American Red Cross and University of Denver policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with other Lifeguard Instructors on materials, scheduling, etc.

• Willingness to learn and comply with our facility specific health and safety procedures.
• Ability to sit, stand, speak, and swim for extended periods of time.
• Ability to communicate efficiently and professionally with other faculty, staff, and patrons.

• A Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor Certification, or willingness to obtain one.

• Previous lifeguard instructor training.
• Previous lifeguarding or aquatics experience.

Classes occur on weekends, from once to twice a month. Class schedule is as follows:

• Friday - 5:00pm-8:30pm
• Saturday - 8:30am-6:00pm
• Sunday - 8:30am-6:00pm

The hourly range for the position is $22.00 - $26.00.
