What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers competitive pay commensurate with education and experience. Although the full pay range is posted, the target hiring range is $25.00-$28.00/ hr. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

The City and County of Denver has announced furlough days, or unpaid days off, for most employees to meet a budget shortfall in 2025. There are two fixed furlough days for all limited (temporary positions with an end date) and unlimited (permanent) employees on August 29th, the Friday before Labor Day, and November 28th, the day after Thanksgiving. If you receive an offer for this position, your annual pay will determine whether you are required to take additional furlough days.

Street Maintenance is responsible for filling potholes, repaving streets, sweeping streets, and removing snow from public streets and alleys. The Division also manages the City’s asphalt plant, which produces asphalt for resurfacing and maintaining city streets and alleys.

As a Equipment Operator you will:

  • Be part of a Street Sweeping, Paving, Milling, or Asphalt team

  • Be an entry level crew leader for the Utility Worker 1&2 teammates

  • Perform semi-skilled and light to heavy physical labor on a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair projects.

  • Operate light to medium sized equipment for maintenance and minor construction projects

  • Place and remove barricades, cones, and other traffic control and safety devices in and around work areas for construction and maintenance projects in accordance with traffic regulation requirement

  • Perform other related duties as assigned including snow removal duties
