- Perform only waived, moderate, or highly complex tests authorized by CLIA, Bus. & Prof. Code Section 1204.
- Adhere to laboratory procedures for collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
- Follow quality control policies and document corrective actions when test systems deviate.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance and either correct them or notify supervisor, Director, or Medical Director.
- Perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures requiring independent judgment using manual and automated methods in Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and other disciplines.
- Perform and document maintenance on instruments and equipment on a daily, weekly, monthly or as needed basis.
- Review accuracy of patient results prior to release.
- Recognize age‑specific differences in expected results for newborns to geriatrics.
- Ensure proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples; collaboration with other labs prohibited before reporting results.
- Perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on various age groups from newborn to geriatrics as required.
- Assist in development and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all department and hospital policies related to safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and human resources.
- Assume leadership responsibilities (Lead Tech) in absence of supervisor, overseeing section or department during shift.
- May be assigned responsibilities related to LIS and/or POC.
- Other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by the department manager/director.
- ASCP certification, or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum two years of hospital laboratory work experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science, or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution (or education requirements stated in CLIA).
- Current and valid State License where required.

Estimated wages range from $29.12 to $39.19 per hour, with final compensation determined at hiring.
