Position Overview

The HVAC Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems within the manufacturing facility. This role ensures that critical systems operate efficiently and comply with food safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems, including air handlers, chillers, boilers, exhaust systems, and rooftop units.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
• Monitor and troubleshoot temperature controls and building automation systems to maintain optimal conditions for food safety and production.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and food manufacturing environmental standards.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, maintenance tasks, parts usage, and repairs in the CMMS system.
• Collaborate with the production and quality teams to ensure climate control standards meet food safety regulations.
• Respond to emergency calls and participate in an on-call rotation as needed.
• Order parts and supplies while maintaining cost-conscious practices.
• Support energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school or technical certification preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in commercial or industrial HVAC systems; food manufacturing environment a plus.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Familiarity with PLCs and building management systems (BMS) is a plus.
• Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work in varying environments (cold, hot, humid, heights).
• Strong commitment to safety, sanitation, and GMP compliance.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
