About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Hardware Design Engineer with a minimum of 7 years of professional experience to lead the design and development of our next-generation industrial automation products.
In this role, you will take full ownership of the hardware product lifecycle—from concept definition and architecture design to validation, certification, and manufacturing release. You will drive the development of robust, mission-critical systems including PLCs, Remote I/O Couplers, Edge Controllers, and Industrial Communication Gateways.
Key Responsibilities 1. Hardware Architecture & System Design- Lead the technical architecture for a diverse portfolio of industrial embedded products (PLCs, Edge Computing, HMIs, and Analog/Digital I/O Modules).
- Define system-level architectures, power delivery networks, reliability targets, and technical product specifications.
- Conduct feasibility studies, perform component selection (balancing performance, lifecycle, and supply chain constraints), and contribute to the technology roadmap.
- Design complex embedded hardware schematics utilizing advanced EDA tools.
- Develop robust hardware platforms based on ARM Cortex-M/R/A microprocessors and industrial communication processors.
- Implement high-speed memory interfaces (DDR), Ethernet PHY/switch circuits, power management systems, and safety/protection circuits.
- Architect industrial communication interfaces including EtherCAT, PROFINET, Ether Net/IP, Modbus, and CANopen
.
- Design and review multilayer PCBs (4 to 16+ layers
), defining complex stack-ups and controlled impedance structures. - Execute high-speed routing (differential pairs, length matching, PCIe, USB, DDR) with strict timing constraint management.
- Conduct Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI) analyses to mitigate crosstalk, optimize return paths, and minimize EMI/EMC issues.
- Optimize board layouts for DFM, DFT, DFR
, thermal performance, and strict EMC compliance.
- Design low-noise, high-precision analog circuits tailored for harsh, electrically noisy industrial environments.
- Develop RTD/Thermocouple interfaces, voltage/current sensing circuits, and precision ADC/DAC interfaces.
- Implement advanced isolation barriers, shielding, and grounding techniques to ensure signal robustness.
- Create comprehensive validation plans; execute board bring-up, debugging, and signal/thermal validation using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
- Direct EMC pre-compliance testing and support global regulatory certifications (
CE, FCC, UL, IEC 61131-2, and the IEC 61000 series
). - Partner with mechanical engineers on enclosure design, DIN-rail mounting systems, thermal management, and IP-rated housing.
- Provide root-cause analysis for complex hardware issues during development, manufacturing, and field deployment.
- Lead hardware design reviews and drive engineering best practices, documentation standards, and design methodologies.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with firmware, software, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality teams.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in embedded hardware development, specifically within industrial automation, PLC development, or high-reliability sectors
. - Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Power & Protection Design: Deep expertise in DC/DC converters, isolated power supplies, and industrial protection circuits (ESD, Surge, EFT, reverse polarity, over-voltage/current).
- Tools: Proficiency with industry-standard EDA tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, KiCAD) for schematic capture and PCB layout.
- Mindset: A proactive problem-solver with strong ownership, capable of driving a complex project from a blank page to mass production.
- Experience designing hardware for Functional Safety products (e.g., SIL 2/3, IEC 61508).
- Familiarity with Embedded Linux platforms and hardware-to-software abstraction layer interfaces.
- Familiarity with PLC software standards (
IEC 61131-3). - Proven track record of successfully guiding complex industrial hardware products through official compliance/certification testing.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading small hardware engineering teams.
