The Emergency Unit Supervisor is responsible for providing day-to-day operational leadership of the Emergency Department (ED), ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, and patient-centered emergency care. The role oversees departmental operations, coordinates multidisciplinary teams, supervises frontline staff, and promotes compliance with clinical governance, patient safety, and regulatory standards. Working closely with the Medical Services Manager, the Emergency Unit Supervisor supports the continuous improvement of emergency services while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

A. Operational Leadership
  • Supervise the daily operations of the ED to ensure safe, effective, and efficient service delivery
  • Coordinate patient flow from triage through assessment, treatment, admission, transfer, or discharge to optimize patient outcomes and department efficiency
  • Monitor department capacity, staffing levels, and operational demands, escalating issues where appropriate
  • Ensure emergency equipment, supplies, and treatment areas are operationally ready at all times.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, and support to ED staff
  • Promote a positive, collaborative, and patient-centered workplace culture
  • Support staff development through coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback
  • Coordinate workforce planning, staff rostering, and daily staff allocation as required
C. Clinical Governance & Patient Safety
  • Promote compliance with hospital policies, clinical protocols, and healthcare regulations
  • Support quality improvement initiative, clinical audits, and accreditation activities
  • Monitor, report, and participate in the investigation of incidents, complaints, and identified risks
  • Promote infection prevention and control practices throughout the department
D. Collaboration and Communication
  • Collaborate with medical, nursing, allied health, diagnostic, and support service teams to facilitate coordinated patient care.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders to support continuity of care and operational efficiency.
  • Escalate operational or clinical concerns to the Medical Services Manager in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and maintain operational reports, documentation, and departmental records as required.
  • Monitor departmental performance indicators and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness activities and departmental projects as directed.
Selection Criteria
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Ners) or other relevant healthcare discipline
  • Licensing:
  • Eligible to obtain a Surat Izin Praktik (SIP) for Aspen Medical Hospital, Depok.
  • Valid and active BCLS and ACLS certification or equivalent
  • Certified in Perioperative Nursing/Operating Room Nursing.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in an Emergency Department or equivalent acute care environment
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of emergency department operations and patient flow management
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
