MAIN FUNCTION:
- Manage and oversee billing and coding staff in duties pertaining to patient billing, insurance, collections, cash posting, account management and contract analysis.
- Identify and review medical records for the purpose of reimbursement and compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines according to diagnosis, operation, and procedure using ICT-10-CM, CPT-4, HCPCs, and other recognized transaction code classification systems.
- Generate accurate, timely billing; maintain organized billing system while responding to payer request for additional information and utilizing the appeal process when needed.
- Assists with assessment of Accounts Receivable, specifically determine whether we are meeting benchmarks and developing plans to address issues.
- Continually monitor payer payments to ensure correct reimbursement is received.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma required
- CPC Certification required
- CRC & CPMA Certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Five or more years' experience in physician coding and healthcare billing industry required.
