Competitive Job Type: Full-time My client is looking for an organised and proactive Senior Administrator to support the effective running of the Town Council and help deliver projects, services and initiatives that benefit the local community. Working closely with the Town Clerk, you will manage Council and Committee administration, supervise a small team of office staff, support community engagement activities and help ensure the Council operates in line with legislation and best practice.
You will also deputise for the Town Clerk when required.
Key Responsibilities Support the delivery of Council projects and strategic priorities. Organise and administer Council and Committee meetings, including agendas and minutes. Manage and supervise administrative staff. Implement Council decisions and support day-to-day operations. Maintain effective relationships with councillors, residents and external stakeholders. Support Council communications, including website and social media updates. Assist with procurement, contract management and financial administration. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and best practice.
About You Essential Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organisational and administrative abilities. Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel. Experience working in a customer-facing or public-facing role.
Desirable Experience within local government or the public sector. Knowledge of the Dartmouth area. Experience updating Word Press websites. Experience supporting committees or formal meetings.
