UX​/Product Designer

Commitment:

McShannock Design is a UX and product design studio working with startups and growing companies to design thoughtful, user-focused digital products.
We partner with ambitious teams to turn ideas into real products. From early concept and user journeys through to high-fidelity interfaces and design systems. Most of our work sits in SaaS, fintech, and AI-driven platforms where clarity, usability, and speed of iteration matter.

We keep things small, collaborative, and focused on quality. No unnecessary process, just good design thinking and close collaboration with product teams.

We’re looking for a contract UX / Product Designer to collaborate on a range of client projects. This is a part-time freelance role, ideal for someone who enjoys working across early product ideas, evolving platforms, and fast-moving startup environments.

You’ll work closely with founders, product teams, and engineers to shape user journeys and craft polished product interfaces. Most projects involve designing web apps, SaaS dashboards, and digital products where usability and clarity are key.

This role is flexible and remote, but we’re ideally looking for someone available for 2–3 days per week on an ongoing basis.

• Designing intuitive product experiences for web platforms and SaaS tools
• Turning product ideas into user flows, wireframes, and prototypes
• Creating high-fidelity UI designs in Figma
• Contributing to or extending existing component libraries and design systems
• Collaborating with founders, product managers, and engineers
• Thinking through complex product problems and simplifying them for users
• Presenting design work and explaining decisions clearly

• Strong experience designing digital products or SaaS platforms
• Confident working in Figma with modern design systems
• Ability to move comfortably from concept to high-fidelity UI
• Clear thinking around UX, interaction design, and information hierarchy
• Comfortable working directly with founders or small product teams
• Ability to work independently and manage your time well

• Experience designing fintech, AI, or data-heavy platforms
• Experience building or contributing to design systems
• Understanding of front-end constraints (HTML/CSS or component-based systems)
• Experience working in startup environments
• Experience working with AI tools such as Claude Code to build clickable prototypes
