Teaching Assistant – Derby

Teacher Active is proud to be working closely with a welcoming and supportive school in Derby City, who are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant (TA) to join their team after half term.

This full-time role will involve supporting pupils in EYFS and Year 1, with a particular focus on children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will work alongside experienced teachers to create a nurturing, inclusive and engaging learning environment where all children can thrive.

Is passionate about supporting children with additional needs in their early learning journey?

Can build strong relationships with both pupils and staff?

The role will involve:

• Supporting children on a 1:1 basis or in small groups

• Assisting with classroom activities and adapting resources to suit individual needs

• Helping to manage behaviour positively and effectively

• Encouraging children to be independent learners

• Ensuring a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment at all times

What we’re looking for:

• Previous experience working with children, particularly in an SEN or Early Years setting

• A genuine passion for helping pupils achieve their full potential

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or relevant experience)

• A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

• The ability to work Monday to Friday, 08:40am to 3:30pm

Driving is preferred but not essential — what matters most is your commitment, compassion, and enthusiasm for helping young learners thrive.
