Overview
Education Personnel are supporting a busy and well-organised primary school in the DE21 area of Derby with the appointment of a full-time Teaching Assistant. This Teaching Assistant role involves working across the school, supporting learning in class and providing targeted help where needed.
The school serves a close-knit local community and has a clear focus on consistency, clear routines, and ensuring pupils are ready to learn. Classrooms are well structured, expectations are shared across year groups, and staff work collaboratively to support progress. Teaching Assistants play an active role in daily learning, behaviour support, and intervention work, and are valued as part of the wider school team.
Leadership is present and approachable, and staff benefit from clear communication and practical support.
Key Responsibilities
• Support pupils in class across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
• Work with small groups or individuals to reinforce learning
• Assist the class teacher with lesson preparation and delivery
• Support pupils with reading, writing, and maths activities
• Help maintain a calm and focused learning environment
• Support behaviour and emotional needs using agreed school strategies
• Monitor pupil progress and feedback observations to teaching staff
• Contribute to wider school activities when required
The Ideal Candidate
• Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
• Has experience working in a UK primary school setting
• Confident supporting learning across different year groups
• Reliable, organised, and able to follow classroom routines
• Calm and consistent when supporting behaviour
• Communicates clearly with pupils and staff
• Willing to be involved in school life and ongoing development
