Alternative Provision Teacher – Year 7 Transition (Secondary)
Full-time | Immediate Start | Long-term Opportunity

Education Personnel, one of the leading education recruitment agencies in the region, is working in partnership with a well-established and highly regarded secondary school in Nottinghamshire to recruit an experienced Alternative Provision teacher to support a new, on-site AP provision.

This provision has been created to support Year 7 pupils who require a carefully structured transition into secondary education. The role is full-time, starting as soon as possible, with the intention to continue until the end of the academic year, subject to review.

About the Provision

* A newly established Alternative Provision embedded within a supportive mainstream secondary school

* Designed to soft-launch Year 7 pupils into school life, building confidence, routines, and readiness for mainstream learning

* Strong emphasis on pastoral care, behaviour support, and emotional regulation

* Excellent opportunity to help shape a new provision from the outset

The Role

* Working with small groups of Year 7 pupils in a secondary AP setting

* Delivering structured learning alongside targeted pastoral and behavioural support

* Supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH, and behavioural needs

* Developing positive relationships to support reintegration into mainstream classes

* Working closely with senior leaders, SEND staff, and pastoral teams

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

* Experience working within Alternative Provision, SEN, SEMH, or behaviour-focused settings

* Strong behaviour management and trauma-informed practice

* Confidence working with secondary-aged pupils, particularly Year 7

* A calm, consistent, and relationship-focused approach

* Flexibility and initiative to support a developing provision

Requirements:

* QTS is desirable but not essential for candidates with strong AP experience

* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

* Willingness to register with Education Personnel

* Available for a full-time, immediate start
