SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Derby (DE3)
Pay: 105‑120 per day Full‑Time Temp to Perm
Long Term Futures are recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for a specialist secondary provision in Derby (DE3). This full‑time role supports pupils aged 11‑16 with SEND, including autism, SEMH, communication difficulties, and complex learning needs. All students receive an EHCP and the school prioritises personalised support to build confidence, independence and achievement.
Key Responsibilities- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND
- Support lesson delivery and classroom activities
- Manage behaviour and promote a positive learning environment
- Adapt support to meet individual needs (EHCPs)
- Encourage engagement, confidence, and independence
- Follow safeguarding procedures at all times
- Experience supporting children with SEND in a school or care setting
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- A patient, calm and proactive approach
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- A genuine passion for supporting young people
- Clear routes to progression within specialist education
- Inclusive and supportive staff team
