The Connections Strategy team is responsible for developing and implementing a range of strategic initiatives, both nearer-term and longer-term, to align the technical, commercial and regulatory elements of our connections process with developments across the energy sector (for example Strategic Spatial Energy Planning, Centralised Strategic Network Planning, Market Reform, and the introduction of Regional Energy Strategic Planning).

You will work collaboratively with other teams across NESO and with industry, Government and Ofgem. As a Connections Senior Policy & Change Officer, you’ll be part of the Connections Strategy Team within the Connections Directorate that manages the connection of generation and demand to GB’s high voltage electricity network. You’ll therefore be at the forefront of accelerating the energy transition to net zero.

You will develop, champion and drive the implementation of complex policies and electricity code changes that will impact the Connections Team. You’ll be responsible for managing relationships with key internal and external stakeholders such as Transmission Owners, OFGEM to understand challenges and drive changes to policies, codes and legislation. You will lead and advise on a varied portfolio of policy and code initiatives and ensure they meet the connections reform methodologies and designed gated process.

This role can be based from Wokingham, Warwick, Glasgow, and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.

As a Connections Senior Policy & Change Officer you will identify and develop the policy changes needed to facilitate Connections Reform and CP30. You will work closely and engage with key internal and external stakeholders, (including the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, Ofgem, Transmission Owners, Distribution Network Operators, generators and customers), advising, developing and leading strategic policy changes and support their implementation.

Collaborate across multiple stakeholder groups, subject matter experts and industry participants to develop the necessary code and policy change to support the reform agenda. Work in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders on your policy ensuring that information and proposals are presented and explained clearly and concisely Identify potential policy gaps and lead the actions needed to resolve, developing robust and compelling approaches for internal and external stakeholder including senior managers.

You will be curious, proactive, able to join up the dots, with excellent problem-solving, presentation skills and high quality written and verbal communication.
