Senior Quality Engineer - Aerospace Manufacturing
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to play a pivotal role in supporting both existing and new aerospace programmes. This is a senior, customer-facing position with responsibility for driving a Right First Time, Every Time culture across the business and leading quality excellence throughout the manufacturing process.
You will act as a key interface between the shop floor, management, suppliers, and customers, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards while mentoring and leading the quality team to achieve outstanding results.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve quality control across all stages of manufacturing in line with customer and regulatory requirements
- Manage all quality-related issues within the manufacturing environment (internal, supplier, and customer)
- Lead investigations into non-conformances using proven methodologies such as 5 Why, 8D, RCCA, and CAPA
- Identify recurring quality issues and provide clear recommendations to the Chief Inspector
- Monitor and report key quality KPIs including scrap, rework, NCR status, and PPM figures
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) using tools such as FMEA, APQP, and PPAP
- Conduct internal audits and support the ongoing development of the Quality Management System
- Represent the Quality function at cross-functional meetings and customer reviews
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across products and processes
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to support business growth and improvement projects
- Promote and embed a Right First Time philosophy throughout the organisation
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in the Aerospace industry, with strong knowledge of AS9100 and NADCAP requirements
- Minimum 10 years' engineering experience
- Strong experience with Lean tools, Kaizen, and structured problem-solving methodologies
- Excellent understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Proven experience in a quality control or inspection environment
- First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) experience
- Knowledge of machining, fabrications, treatments, and special processes
- High attention to detail with a logical and methodical approach to problem-solving
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (this is a customer-facing role)

- Natural leader with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop others
- Experience setting expectations aligned to departmental and company objectives
- Ability to prioritise work based on risk and criticality to meet demanding timescales
- Confident managing and leading a quality team to deliver agreed performance targets
- Strong presence on the shop floor with the ability to communicate clearly at all levels
- Experience conducting team supervision, development reviews, and annual resource planning
- Comfortable presenting quality data and performance metrics to management and customers
Desirable (Advantageous)
- Previous internal auditing experience
- Chemical and special process knowledge
- SPC experience and use of advanced quality tools
- Strong customer relationship management experience within aerospace
