A renowned and respected engineering consultancy with a strong presence in highly regulated sectors is looking to appoint a Senior Design Engineer to join their industry leading team in Derby.
This role offers the chance to contribute to technically complex programmes within nuclear and defence environments, working as part of a collaborative and experienced engineering team.
Key Duties- Develop and deliver engineering designs aligned with client and project requirements
- Create and maintain 3D models and technical drawings using CAD software
- Review, adapt and improve existing designs to enhance performance and manufacturability
- Ensure all work adheres to relevant industry standards, safety requirements and best practice
- Work closely with internal teams to bring concepts through to completion
- Provide technical guidance and oversight to less experienced team members
- Communicate design intent and solutions clearly to stakeholders
- Demonstrable experience in a senior-level design engineering or similar role
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering and the ability to work closely with the mechanical engineering team
- Appreciate the manufacturing considerations within the design process
- Experience working in regulated industries (e.g. nuclear, defence, aerospace or similar) is advantageous
- Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as Siemens NX (or comparable systems)
- Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems
- Relevant engineering qualification (degree or equivalent experience)
- Working knowledge of applicable safety and compliance standards
- Involvement in complex, long-term engineering programmes
