Your roleIn the role of Engineering Manager, you will interface with key stakeholders and apply your technical and people leadership capabilities across different stages of the Product Development Life Cycle, including requirements gathering, conceptual, preliminary and detailed design and definition. You will be responsible for leading and developing a team of engineers, driving technical delivery excellence, enabling collaboration across functions, and ensuring that design outputs meet customer expectations for quality, safety, cost, schedule and manufacturability.
You will play an important role in steering high-level design artefacts, mentoring team members, managing priorities, supporting stakeholder governance and enabling successful delivery through a culture of ownership, accountability and continuous improvement. You will be part of a learning culture, where teamwork and collaboration are encouraged, excellence is rewarded, and diversity is respected and valued.
You will be responsible for managing and leading the delivery of design and integration activities for aero engine components and assemblies. This includes applying principles of product safety, robust design, systems engineering, DFX and producibility while guiding the team through gated technical reviews and securing technical buy-offs. You will work closely with integrated project teams, customers, designers, manufacturing teams and supporting functions to ensure that physical and functional design solutions achieve desired product requirements and attributes such as life, cost, weight, serviceability, safety and manufacturability.
As a manager, you will also be accountable for planning, prioritising, monitoring and improving delivery performance, while developing team capability and ensuring adherence to customer operating procedures, engineering standards and best practices. Experience in modelling, drafting and Model Based Definition across complex core turbo machinery components and sub-assemblies such as compressors, combustion systems, rotative discs, casings, structures, turbine statics and shafts may be advantageous.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of mechanical design engineers by setting clear objectives, reviewing progress, providing technical guidance and enabling capability development aligned to project and business needs.
- Own delivery governance for assigned work packages, including planning, resource allocation, risk management, issue escalation, stakeholder communication and performance tracking against quality, cost and schedule commitments.
- Drive collaboration across design, analysis, manufacturing, product safety, supply chain and customer teams to resolve technical dependencies and ensure integrated product maturity.
