Role Description At BAE Systems Digital Intelligence, we produce complex electronic and electromechanical products that support the safety, security and resilience of the UK and its allies. Combining advanced digital, RF and software technologies, our products are deployed in some of the most demanding operational environments across cyber security, intelligence and national security domains. They are delivered through a rigorous manufacturing framework to ensure quality, reliability and long-term supportability.
You will join our Manufacturing Engineering team as an engineer who can perform electronics engineering and engineering coordination. You will take on technical responsibility for the production of our complex electronic products. You will work closely with development teams and manufacturing technicians, while also reporting to senior stakeholders. You will work across all stages of the product lifecycle, including productionisation, production and support.
You will develop a deep technical understanding of our products and apply your knowledge of digital, analogue and RF principles to identify improvements and overcome technical challenges. Key duties Taking technical ownership of the production of electronic products from the earliest standalone prototype systems through to mature products in widespread customer use. Integrating, testing and supporting our electronic products. Undertaking fault diagnosis and resolution down to component level.
Proactively identifying and recommending opportunities for process improvement. Providing technical guidance to test and assembly technicians. Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, often involving third-party compliance testing. Performing configuration management activities to ensure product integrity and traceability. Essential Requirements A degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or Physics. Familiarity with electronic components and their in-circuit functionality. Configuration and operation of advanced electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, network analysers, function generators, etc.).
Desirable: 2 or more years working in a live production and/or support environment, delivering against tight timescales and being adaptable to changing requirements.
Experience of root cause analysis and corrective action activities. Python or Bash scripting experience. Familiarity with Linux operating environments. Familiarity with electro-mechanical assembly.
