About the Role Job Description

The Healthcare Assistant provides high-quality personal care and support to residents in a safe, respectful and compassionate environment. The role involves helping residents with their daily activities, promoting independence and dignity, monitoring their wellbeing, and working closely with nurses, carers, families and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting and continence support.
  • Assist residents with eating, drinking and maintaining a healthy diet.
  • Support residents with mobility, transfers and use of mobility equipment.
  • Monitor and report changes in residents' physical or emotional wellbeing.
  • Record care provided accurately and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Support residents with medication in accordance with training and care-home procedures.
  • Maintain residents' privacy, dignity and confidentiality at all times.
  • Encourage residents to remain as independent and active as possible.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support.
  • Assist with activities and social engagement.
  • Follow safeguarding, infection-control, health-and-safety and care-home policies.
  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary care team.
  • Communicate appropriately with residents, relatives, colleagues and healthcare professionals.
  • Attend training and maintain required knowledge and skills.
  • Report accidents, incidents, concerns or suspected abuse immediately through the correct procedures.

Requirements
  • Right to work in the UK - unfortunately, sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Valid/updated DBS certificate preferred, where possible.
  • Previous experience in a care home or healthcare setting is desirable.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Caring, compassionate and respectful approach to residents.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to complete required training and follow care-home policies
