About the Role

We are seeking a creative, adaptable and innovative Mental Health Occupational Therapist to join our service within Community Mental Health transformation in Newham. This role is based in our Community Integrated Mental Health Services (CIMHS). This is offered at 22.5 hours part time on a secondment or fix term contract for 9 months.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a real interest in transforming community mental health services, passionate about exploring new ways of working, beyond traditional models. It is imperative to have a "working alongside" and not a "doing to" mentality. In addition to direct clinical work, you will be committed to working with communities, recognising strengths and capacities, in partnership with our community leaders, statutory and non-statutory organisations across the diverse population of Newham.

Key Responsibilities

You will also be part of the wider Occupational Therapy service and have support from other Lead Practitioners and have close working with the MDT including Peer Support Workers and Community Connectors.

This role demands flexible working across community sites in Newham and the ability to travel across the borough.

  • To establish, build and optimise working relationships within community mental health transformation including the Community Integrated Mental Health Service (CIMHS), Primary care networks, secondary care, the voluntary sector and community partners.
  • To support the ongoing development of the Occupational Therapy (OT) service within Community Mental Health transformation, particularly how to optimise the value of OT, alongside the Directorate Lead for OT.
  • To provide Occupational Therapy input to service users accessing the CIMHS teams, especially where needs are complex and where multiple factors impacts on occupational performance.
  • To contribute to case formulations within the Mental Health team, incorporating experience and knowledge as a dual-trained professional in both physical and mental health.
Interview Process

Interviews will be in person and include a presentation and/or discussion.
