The Lead BI Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise in the design, development, and governance of business intelligence and analytical products that deliver trusted, actionable insight  role exists to Delivers BI products in line with agreed BI strategy and architectural standards, supporting effective decision making.

The Lead BI Engineer partners closely with stakeholders and delivery teams to shape requirements, define metrics and models, and guide the creation of high quality BI products that improve service experience and contractual performance.

Leads technical design and implementation within agreed architecture and design standards.

Contributes to the design authority for data modelling, visualisation, and BI patterns, contributing to standards and ensuring consistent, high-quality approaches across the team.

Works closely with product, performance, and business stakeholders to shape requirements, supports KPI definition and success criteria, and ensure BI products deliver meaningful outcomes.

Supports reliable delivery by identifying technical risks, dependencies, and constraints early, and guiding teams to pragmatic, timely solutions.

Applies agreed validation and quality approaches and escalates data trust or security concerns through established governance routes.

Supports BI Engineers and Junior Engineers, sharing expertise, reviewing work, and raising technical capability within the BI engineering team. Drives ongoing improvement in BI tooling, patterns, and practices, identifying opportunities to simplify, automate, and enhance the BI estate.

• A degree level qualification (or equivalent practical experience) in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience working in data or analytics roles within a complex organisation, delivering BI solutions across multiple business areas or work streams.
• Proven, in-depth experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale business intelligence solutions, ideally using Power BI.
• Advanced analytical capability with strong experience in data visualisation, storytelling, and UX design for insight delivery.
• Demonstrated experience producing executive-level insight, including shaping narrative, defining KPIs, and supporting strategic decision‑making.
