To support our growth and sustainability, Boccard are looking to recruit apprentices to undertake a 3 year Modern Apprenticeship through Coleg Cambria starting in September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to become fully proficient and highly skilled in Welding and Fabrication.

The first year will be full time at college, Year 2 and 3 will be on day release to college whilst gaining on the job experience at our fully digitalised manufacturing facility in Deeside, North Wales whilst studying NVQ level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations followed by Level NVQ 3 and a Technical Certificate L3 in Fabrication & Welding Engineering.

The apprenticeship entails learning to perform fabrication and welds at each stage of manufacturing and construction process to make piping supports and piping to exacting standards for installation currently at Hinkley Point Nuclear Power Station.

The work requires attention to detail, the ability to read and understand drawings, manual dexterity,
adherence to health, safety and quality standards and a desire to produce work of the highest quality whilst achieving required quantity. Candidates will finish their apprenticeship as a skilled tradesperson in Welding and Fabrication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Understand and adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Carry out the production of high-quality fabrication and welds in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Support the Production team to carry out all aspects of plant maintenance and ensure all relevant maintenance and Lifetime records are accurately recorded.
  • Maintain working area to ensure the working environment is safe and clean to prevent a negative impact on quality standards.
Qualification and Skills Required to apply
  • Minimum 5 GCSE’s including GCSE Maths & English ideally grade C or above (Grade 4 in England), minimum grade D /3.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Works effectively as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated, high level of enthusiasm, can do approach.
  • Computer proficient.
