Position Overview
SEN Teaching Assistants – Norfolk & Cambridgeshire
Location:
Various sites commutable from Royston, Cambridge, St Ives, St Neots, Huntingdon, Letchworth, Norwich, Diss, Thetford, Swaffham, Chatteris, Ely.
Job Type: Full‑time | Part‑time | Temporary | Temp‑to‑Perm | Permanent
Salary: £95 – £120 per day (depending on experience, qualifications and role)
Responsibilities- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with additional needs.
- Support students with ADHD, ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition), SEMH and communication needs.
- Assist pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD).
- Support learners with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).
- Work alongside teachers, therapists and healthcare professionals to implement EHCP targets.
- Support pupils with complex health needs where required (training provided where appropriate).
- Help manage behaviour positively using structured and therapeutic approaches.
- Encourage independence, emotional regulation and social development.
We welcome applications from candidates with experience or qualifications in SEN/SEND support, including:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN, ASC, ADHD or SEMH.
- Experience in specialist provisions, PRUs, care settings or residential environments.
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
- CACHE Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
- Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools.
Desirable (but not essential):
- Team Teach or positive handling training.
- Makaton, PECS or communication‑based training.
- Autism Awareness training.
- Experience supporting pupils with complex medical needs.
