THE EMPLOYER IS: THE RESOURCE CENTRE DERRYThe Finance and Operations Administrator post has been created as a new, entry-level opportunity under the Job Start Scheme. The role is designed to provide structured workplace experience, practical occupational skills, and employability development for a Job Start participant.
The postholder will support finance and operational activities across the organisation, working under close supervision. The role has a strong training and development focus and is intended to support the participant in gaining transferable skills that can be applied across a wide range of employment settings.
- Assisting with basic data entry using accounting software, including invoice input and filing.
- Supporting the preparation and issuing of invoices.
- Assisting with basic payroll administration, including timesheets and roster uploads.
- Maintaining organised financial and administrative records.
- Supporting the preparation of banking documentation under supervision.
- Assisting with daily cash counting in operational departments.
- Supporting the preparation of cash lodgements.
- Recording daily cash totals using approved templates.
- Assisting with basic sales reporting from point of sale systems.
- Supporting stock takes across departments including catering, retail, and other operational areas.
- Assisting with ordering processes and checking delivery documentation.
- Liaising with department managers to gather operational information.
- Uploading staff rosters into time and attendance systems.
- Gathering operational and financial data from departments.
- Collating information into spreadsheets and templates.
- Preparing draft summaries to support the General Manager and Finance Manager.
- Assisting with data gathering to support funding applications and internal reporting.
- Participating in structured on-the-job training.
- Developing core administrative, organisational, and communication skills.
- Gaining exposure to finance and operations across a diverse organisation.
- Engaging in employability support activities including CV development and interview preparation.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Basic IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
- Interest in administration, finance, or business operations.
- Some previous experience in an administrative or office-based role.
- Interest in finance, business, or operational roles.
Ability to work with numbers at a basic level. - Willingness to work across different departments.
