Principal Designer

We are currently seeking an experienced CDM 2015 Principal Designer with a design background in the Construction industry. This is a full time role and can be based from any of our seven studios in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Galashiels, Inverness, Ardgay, Oxford or London.

• Providing Principal Designer Services for a range of complex Construction projects.
• Advising staff who provide Principal Designer Services on smaller Construction Projects.
• Mentoring staff on carrying out their Designer and/or Principal Designer role under CDM 2015.
• Managing overview of Principal Designer Services with the CDM Team.
• Providing advice to the business on internal Health and Safety Matters.
• Preparing and providing CPD sessions for staff on Health and Safety Matters.
• Creating and updating practice CDM resources.
• Working with BIM to further develop CDM BIM resources.
• Preparing fee proposals and activity Schedules for project enquiries.
• Continued learning and engagement with the subjects of Health, Safety, Wellbeing, Inclusion & Access.
• Engagement with the practice sectors and specialisms to ensure collaboration, consistency, and excellence in line with CDM Regulations and Oberlanders purpose, vision and values.
• Accountability and regular reporting to the Senior Management Team.
• Attending meetings across the business.
• Sharing key information with the practice regarding relevant legislation and updates.

• Minimum of 3 years post qualified experience.
• Experience in a Senior Role.
• Experience of CDM 2015
  
  Principal Designer Role.
• Principal Designer Course Achieved APS/IOSH/Nebosh or equivalent qualification. If you have experience but no qualification, support will be provided for you to complete the course as soon as possible in order to work towards APS membership.

• As a designer it is hugely satisfying to diversify and hone a specific area of expertise, applying it to lots of interesting projects and scenarios whilst working with people from many different specialisms.
• No two days are the same between theCDM 2015 Principal Designer, Strategy, Managerial and Mentoring roles. This is an important, rewarding, varied, and stimulating role which will stretch your knowledge and organisational capacity.
• The workload is for the most part predictable. Some days may be more intense than others, but never boring!
