Location: Rosemount Community Centre,
Duration: Fixed Term, Part Time

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 10 and above (currently £30,030 per annum / £16.50 per hour))

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Provide tuition and guidance to adult learners and deliver the core adult learning offer. The core offer is literacy, numeracy, core skills, ICT and ESOL. Work collaboratively with adult learners to improve their literacy, numeracy, ICT, English language and core skills. Work collaboratively with adult learners to address personal growth through experiential learning and development of core skills to become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.

Delivering ESOL classes to various cohorts, including those with low level language and/or literacy skills. Learner centred classes designed to engage and empower learners as they acquire new language and literacy skills.

• CELTA/Trinity Certificate in TESOL/TEFL or equivalent
• PVG Membership for Regulated Work with Protected Adults or willingness to obtain prior to a formal offer of employment being made
• Membership of Community Learning and Development Standards Council, or commitment to join within first 3 months of appointment

• Developing and maintaining positive relationships with people participating in adult learning programmes
• Delivering Adult Literacies, English for Speakers of other languages (ESOL), Digital or other Community Based adult learning for outcomes of personal development and to raise levels of skills and confidence
• How individuals learn and familiarity with a range of educational approaches using appropriate materials
• Being flexible and adapting approaches and styles for different audiences
• Monitoring and evaluation processes
• Planning, achieving and maintaining quality outcomes within tight deadlines
• Communicating effectively in a variety of work settings.
• A working knowledge of wider community resources/potential referral sources
