Biomedical Scientist - (Pathology) - Altnagelvin Hospital

We are currently recruiting a Biomedical Scientist for an immediate start based in the Pathology Department at Altnagelvin Hospital , Derry/Londonderry. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated laboratory team, playing a vital role in delivering high-quality diagnostic services that directly support patient care across the Trust.

This is a temporary ongoing position, initially for 3 months, with the potential for extension based on service requirements. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8am 4pm (flexible work times) with a pay rate of £19.78 (Band
6).

Your Role:

Prepare and process patient and research samples for analysis

Perform diagnostic testing using specialised laboratory equipment

Analyse, interpret, and accurately record laboratory results

Carry out quality control procedures and maintain laboratory equipment

Ensure compliance with health and safety, quality, and laboratory standards

Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and laboratory colleagues to support high-quality patient care

What We Need From You

• Degree in Biomedical Science or an equivalent qualification
• Registration with the HCPC (or eligibility to register)
• 12 years post-graduate clinical experience, within a pathology setting is desirable
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
