The role holder will join a new Product innovation team to focus entirely on innovating new products on the Workday platform.

This role has been opened as a result of new Workday partnerships which includes the Marketplace, the AI Gateway, AWS integration and the ‘Built on Workday’ programme. These initiatives provide the technical and commercial framework for creating a thriving product ecosystem on the Workday platform. With this new team we want Kainos to become the leading Partner in the Marketplace.

As an AWS Lead Platform Engineer (Consultant), you’ll design, automate, build, manage and optimise modern platforms. You’ll join our innovation team as we build new products. It’s a fast‑paced environment and you’ll be trusted to make sound, reasoned decisions. You’ll do this whilst learning about new technologies and approaches, with colleagues that will help you to learn, develop and grow.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Working as part of a team – You’ll work alongside colleagues in engineering, testing, consulting, product management and security capabilities to build, test and deploy software of the highest quality, including the operation and continuous improvement of underlying platform services.
  • AWS Expertise – Design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure cloud architecture on AWS.
  • Technical Leadership – You’ll provide direction and leadership for your team as you solve challenging problems together on delivery and support projects.
  • Using technology for positive impact – You’ll ensure the latest technologies are employed appropriately and aligned with industry best practices for maximum user and business benefit.
  • Being objectively opinionated – As a respected voice within Kainos and beyond, you’ll offer your opinion and critique to improve our solutions. You’ll proactively share knowledge internally within Kainos and more widely in industry.
  • Becoming a Role Model – You’ll support your colleagues and foster a Dev Ops culture in all that you do by embodying the Kainos values. You’ll be a person your colleagues look up to – people trust your decisions because they are transparent and justified. You’ll be passionate and committed to ensuring Kainos projects are successful.
  • Putting people first & developing others – You’ll manage, coach and develop a small number of staff, with a focus on managing employee performance and assisting in their career development.
Minimum (essential) requirements:
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to simply and clearly communicate technical design (or significant portions thereof) in conversation, documentation and presentation to a technical and non‑technical audience.
  • We all work in teams here in Kainos – You’ll need a proven experience of team leadership and supporting a Dev Ops culture in delivering and/or supporting complex projects.
  • Significant expertise in AWS and Terraform – you have a broad know-how around how applications and services are constructed using the AWS platform…
