As a Lead Platform Engineer (Consultant) in Kainos, youll be responsible for leading teams to design, automate, build, manage and optimise modern digital service platforms. Its a fast-paced environment and youll be trusted to make sound, reasoned decisions. Youll do this whilst learning about new technologies and approaches, with colleagues that will help you to learn, develop and grow. As the technical leader in the team, you will also interact with customers, share knowledge and mentor those around you.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Working as part of a team - Youll work alongside colleagues in engineering, testing, consulting, product management and security capabilities to build, test and deploy software of the highest quality; including the operation and continuous improvement of underlying platform services. Using technology for positive impact Youll ensure the latest technologies are employed appropriately and aligned with industry best practices for maximum user and business benefit.

Providing Technical Leadership Youll provide direction and leadership for your team as you solve challenging problems together on delivery and support projects. Minimum (essential) requirements Strong verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to simply and clearly communicate technical design (or significant portions thereof) in conversation, documentation and presentation to a technical and non-technical audience. We all work in teams here in Kainos Youll need a proven experience of team leadership and supporting a Dev Ops culture in delivering and/or supporting complex projects.
The role requires SC Clearance. Significant expertise in:
Designing, building, testing, automating, monitoring and/or operating, enhancing and improving reliability of modern digital service platform in production environments. Using the latest Continuous Delivery and automation techniques for releasing operationally ready software to production, including platform orchestration through the use of multiple configuration management tools Demonstrable experience in:
Building and/or supporting modern digital service platforms to include architecture, design, estimation, planning and iteration on MVP using a modern agile approach. Championing best practice use of Site Reliability Engineering tooling, techniques and processes to manage and improve existing platform services.
E.g. monitoring, platform modernisation and cost optimisation. Use of AWS including SaaS or PaaS offerings to solve business problems. Desirable Obtained certification with a public cloud provider (AWS). Obtained certification relating to a particular area of specialisation e.g. Kubernetes CKAD.
