Job Description
Cleaning Supervisor
Responsible to: Designated line manager
Responsible for: The supervision of cleaning staff at a specified location
Job Purpose: To provide a cleaning service within a building or building complex to agreed standards.
Duties and Responsibilities- All duties must comply with the Health and Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978, Acts of Parliament, Statutory Instruments, the COSHH Regulations and other legal requirements.
- Duties carried out under normal working conditions.
- Cover colleagues on sick leave in line with EA procedure.
- Absences reported per EA procedure and forms signed by Building Supervisor.
- Wear protective clothing, workwear, flat‑soled enclosed‑toe footwear when required.
- Use and care for cleaning equipment safely; report defects immediately.
- Complete all necessary paperwork.
- Jobs performed up to grade, within employee competence.
- Accept any training for higher‑grade duties; payment made where authorised.
- Accept training to facilitate duties up to their own grade.
- Includes induction and refresher training.
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrable two years’ experience of cleaning outside the home.
- Ability to use own initiative and work under pressure.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including instruction in English.
- Effective organisation and planning skills.
- Teamwork capability.
- Flexible approach and ability to give instruction.
- Knowledge of cleaning supervisor requirements, health & safety legislation and cleaning methods/machinery.
- Values alignment with EA ethos and values.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience supervising staff.
- Commitment to equality and excellence in service delivery.
