We are looking for an experienced Operations Director to lead and grow our plant and tool hire operations in the South Coast & Anglia region. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, manage day‑to‑day operations, and drive profitability while ensuring exceptional service to customers and strong relationships with key clients and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the South Coast & Anglia plant and tool hire business.
  • Lead, motivate and manage a dedicated team of regional managers, sales staff and operational personnel.
  • Drive operational efficiency, ensuring smooth processes in fleet management, delivery and collection services.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts and maximise profit across the region.
  • Develop and implement strategic growth plans to expand the customer base and increase market share.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and legal regulations.
  • Implement best practices to maintain equipment standards and quality control.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and industry developments to stay ahead of the competition.
Essential

Qualifications & Skills
  • Proven experience in a senior operational management role within the plant and tool hire, construction or related sector.
  • Strong leadership and team‑management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate.
  • Excellent understanding of fleet management, logistics and operational processes.
  • Financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and driving profit.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
