Position: UK Packaging Lead up to £60k pa (depending on experience)

Job Overview

A senior‑level packaging technologist with a strong background in sustainability, ideally in the food or beverage industry, will lead delivery of planning and product launches in the UK market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design the packaging activity roadmap and lead delivery of the Innovation & NPD packaging plans.
  • Ensure legal compliance and accurate technical data for all packaging materials.
  • Champion the NPD stage & gate process, coordinate factory trials, create packaging specifications, and support product launches.
  • Support artwork and packaging development, manufacturing and palletisation guidelines, and post‑implementation reviews.
  • Lead the Packaging Sustainability programme and attend trade shows and expert events.
  • Translate external environmental sustainability factors into recommendations for the business.
  • Scout for new packing technologies and develop partnerships with suppliers.
  • Support performance optimisation of packaging materials and technology following product launches.
  • Ensure technical risk assessments are completed and mitigate risks.
  • Provide packaging expertise and leadership to Production & Engineering teams, improving manufacturing efficiency.
Skill Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in FMCG packaging management (food or beverage ideal).
  • Expertise in packaging areas: material properties & machinability, packing technologies, printing processes, distribution & bulk B2B.
  • Experience with sustainable packaging materials (advantage).
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to multi‑task and work under pressure.
  • Strong prioritisation & project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills; capable of representing the business at external events.
  • Self‑starter with a positive, can‑do attitude and high energy.
