Advanced Manufacture and Repair Technician
As an Advanced Manufacture and Repair Technician you will manufacture and repair parts for aircraft, vehicles and specialist equipment in specially equipped workshops and aircraft maintenance hangars.
Responsibilities- Work in a specially-equipped workshop to make and repair components for aircraft, specialist equipment and vehicles.
- Use manual and computer‑operated machinery such as drilling, milling, cutting and forming equipment.
- Manufacture or modify aircraft parts to strict technical standards.
- Consult with Aircraft Technicians on the best methods for component removal and fitting.
- Assist in production engineering and the repair and manufacture of equipment essential to the support of RAF activities.
- Be aged 16–47 years old (must attest before 48th birthday).
- Have GCSE grade C/4 or Scottish National 5 grade C in English, Mathematics and an approved Science/Technology‑based subject.
- Meet specific nationality and residency criteria, including being a citizen of the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland, holder of UK/other dual nationality or a Commonwealth citizen with right‑to‑work immigration status.
- Commit to a minimum of 3 years of post Phase Two Training.
- Achieve the minimum security clearance of Security Check (SC).
Applicants must be a citizen of the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland, holder of dual UK/other nationality, or a Commonwealth citizen with right‑to‑work immigration status. Candidates should have resided in the UK for the five years immediately preceding the application, although a minimum of three years may be considered. Nationality of spouse, partner and parents is also taken into account for security clearance purposes.
FitnessRequirements
- Be physically fit to complete initial and specialist training, including the Pre‑Joining Fitness Test (PJFT) – a 2.4 km run on a treadmill.
- Meet age‑ and gender‑specific BMI and waist circumference criteria as required by RAF standards.
- Undergo a medical assessment and provide proof of full physical and psychological fitness for military service.
- Declare any previous spent or unspent convictions and check eligibility under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
- Achieve the minimum security clearance of Security Check (SC).
- Being a member of a group that promotes racial hatred and violence.
- Being awaiting court appearance or having unspent convictions that cannot be declared.
- Misusing drugs, solvents or anabolic steroids.
- Having tattoos, brands or bead implants that are obscene, offensive or disallowed by RAF policy.
- Having body piercings that do not close up or cause permanent holes.
- Being declared an undischarged bankrupt.
