Join Macmillan Cancer Support and The Rainbow Project at Foyle Pride on Saturday 29 August 2026.
Macmillan Cancer Support are joining our Cancer Champions partner, The Rainbow Project, to march in this year’s Foyle Pride parade.
Volunteers are invited to march with us to highlight our partnership and support The Rainbow Project in all that they do, especially in making cancer fairer for the LGBTQIA+ community in Northern Ireland.
Foyle Pride is a vibrant celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies, bringing people together in support of equality, visibility and inclusion across Derry/Londonderry.
What will you be doing?
Join Team Macmillan and The Rainbow Project as we march proudly in solidarity and inclusivity along the Foyle Pride Parade route.
Help spread awareness of the support Macmillan Cancer Support provides for people living with cancer.
Support activity at The Rainbow Project stall in Guildhall Square, including sharing cancer myth-busting cards with members of the public.
Carry flags, placards or other materials to and from the parade, and help with clearing up at the end of the day.
Be part of an uplifting and inspiring celebration of community and pride.
Your impact:
Having a visible Macmillan Cancer Support presence at Foyle Pride is incredibly important. It helps show that Macmillan is here for everyone affected by cancer, while encouraging those attending or watching the parade to reach out for support if they need it.

Please do let us know if we can support with any questions, access needs or further information.
If you are neurodiverse or find large crowds and noise overwhelming, please let us know beforehand. There may be the option to spend more time at the stall in Guildhall Square if participating in the parade becomes too much.
Extra information
Volunteers will be provided with a bespoke Macmillan Pride T-shirt for the event. Please email your t-shirt size preference to (sizes range from S-2XL) once you have signed up to this event.

Why we want youJoin us as an Event Support volunteer to support Macmillan's fundraising activities. Bring your enthusiasm and team working skills to support everything from marathons to festivals to black tie events. Together, we can be right there for people with cancer.
What you will be doing- Event support could include - marshalling, setting up, finish line support
- Collecting funds on behalf of Macmillan at an event
- Being the friendly face of Macmillan, giving out leaflets to the public and signposting them to our services
- Other ad-hoc activities that may arise
- Ability to work well in a team
- Good communication skills
- Have a rewarding and fun experience
- Meet new people as part of a friendly team that makes a difference in the community
- Receive an induction, relevant training, the support you need to carry out your role, and agreed out-of-pocket expenses (reimbursed within our guidelines)
