Role

Summary

To support the Home Manager in the day-to-day leadership, operational management and delivery of high-quality, safe and person-centred care within the Home. The Deputy Manager plays a key role in promoting resident wellbeing, dignity, independence and positive outcomes while supporting effective governance, workforce management and service delivery.

The role provides operational, clinical and professional leadership throughout the Home, supporting teams to deliver compassionate, responsive and high-quality care in line with regulatory, professional and organisational standards. The Deputy Manager will support the coordination of staffing, resident care, quality assurance, safeguarding and multidisciplinary working while contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of the service.

In the absence of the Home Manager, the Deputy Manager may assume delegated responsibility for operational oversight and the coordination of the Home in line with organisational requirements and regulatory expectations.

The role may involve supporting residents living with dementia, mental health conditions, behavioural support needs or complex care requirements depending on the service environment.

The Role

Key Responsibilities Service Delivery & Stakeholder Experience
  • Support the Home Manager in leading the delivery of high-quality, safe and person-centred care tailored to individual resident needs, preferences and outcomes in line with RQIA care home minimum standards 2022.
  • Promote resident wellbeing, dignity, independence, choice and quality of life across all aspects of care and service delivery.
  • Support effective oversight of assessments, care planning, risk management and clinical interventions to ensure safe and responsive care.
  • Ensure residents, families and representatives are treated with compassion, professionalism and respect and are appropriately involved in care and decision-making processes.
  • Support meaningful resident engagement, wellbeing initiatives, activities and positive daily experiences within the Home.
  • Promote positive relationships with residents, relatives, visitors, external professionals and wider stakeholders.
  • Support the effective management of complaints, concerns, compliments and feedback in line with organisational procedures and learning processes.
  • Contribute to maintaining a welcoming, inclusive and professional environment for residents, visitors and colleagues.
Leadership & People Management
  • Support the Home Manager in providing visible, supportive and values-led leadership across the Home.
  • Promote a positive culture of collaboration, accountability, professionalism, inclusion and continuous improvement.
  • Provide day-to-day operational, clinical and professional leadership to nursing, care and ancillary teams.
