The Quality Manager Opportunity

Vickerstock are working exclusively with an established Northern Ireland engineering and manufacturing business in the appointment of a Quality Manager.

This is a senior, manufacturing-focused Quality position with responsibility for an established team of six and overall ownership of Quality performance and systems across the operation.

The successful candidate will lead the Quality team while working closely with Production, Engineering and senior management to improve product quality, manufacturing processes and the wider Quality Management System.

This isn't a purely systems-based Quality role. We are looking for someone comfortable being close to manufacturing, understanding how products are made, identifying where problems occur and working with the wider business to put practical improvements in place.

The environment involves metal manufacturing, fabrication and assembly, so experience within this or a similarly complex manufacturing environment would be particularly relevant.

What will you be responsible for?

Lead, manage and develop an established team of six Quality personnel
Take ownership of the Quality Management System
Develop and improve quality processes, procedures and standards
Drive improvements in manufacturing and product quality
Lead quality audits and support continued compliance
Oversee root cause investigations and corrective actions
Manage significant customer and supplier quality issues
Monitor quality performance and use data to drive improvement
Work closely with Production and Engineering to resolve manufacturing issues
Develop a proactive Quality and Continuous Improvement culture across the operation

What are we looking for?

Minimum 3 years' experience within Quality Management
Strong Quality experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
Experience managing and developing Quality personnel
Proven experience managing and improving a Quality Management System
Strong understanding of manufacturing quality and Continuous Improvement
Practical problem-solving and root cause analysis experience
Strong communication and leadership capability

Experience with in metal manufacturing, fabrication, welding, engineered assemblies, machinery or another complex manufacturing environment would be particularly attractive.

A formal Engineering, Manufacturing or Quality qualification would be advantageous, although strong relevant industry experience will also be considered.

We would particularly like to hear from Quality Managers and Senior Quality Managers. Experienced Quality Engineering Managers, Quality Systems Managers and Lead Quality Engineers with substantial QMS and people-management responsibility who are ready for a broader leadership position will also be considered.
