Senior Accountant

Conscious Search is conducting the search for a Senior Accountant for our Canadian client, with US head‑quarter in Des Moines, Iowa. This is a possibility to join a growing US finance/accounting team and report directly to the corporate SVP, Finance in Vancouver, Canada. You will also have one direct report, a junior accountant. This is a full‑time, onsite position. We are looking for candidates who thrive in fast‑paced, hands‑on environment and are excited about growing their career as the US business expands.

Priority is given to candidates with CPA license (or in process of acquiring the license).

Key Responsibilities

• Support and oversee the Junior Accountant, ensuring quality and accuracy in day‑to‑day activities
• Manage collections, ACH returns, and late fee set‑ups
• Perform AR Analysis and send out customer statements
• Review personal property declarations (prepared by Junior Accountant)
• Lead daily bank reconciliation and cash flow management
• Assist in projecting cash needs
• Review and post daily GL batches
• Review sales tax reports (prepared by Junior Accountant)
• Manage month‑end close
• Demo Depreciation and confirm ME close for PD with IT
• Verify balances of all Balance Sheet accounts and select Income Statement accounts
• Compare variances of Income Statement accounts
• Support year‑end close activities, including:
• Maintain various standard journal entries and prepaid/accrued accounts.
• Maintain a depreciation schedule of non‑leased assets
• Review and approve all outgoing payments (daily)

What We’re Looking For

• CPA license (or in process of completion)
• Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience
• Solid understanding of US GAAP and general ledger functions
• Experience with month‑end/year‑end close processes
• Strong analytical, reconciliation, and organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
• A team player with excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Desire to grow withing the organization and take on increasing responsibilities
