Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Des Moines, Iowa. This is a long-term contract position that offers the opportunity to contribute to key financial operations and ensure the accuracy of accounting processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing month-end close procedures, reconciling accounts, and maintaining the general ledger.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee and execute month-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

- Maintain and update the general ledger while verifying the accuracy of entries.

- Prepare and post journal entries in compliance with accounting standards.

- Conduct account reconciliations to ensure consistency and resolve discrepancies.

- Handle bank reconciliations and ensure all transactions are properly recorded.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial audits and reporting.

- Analyze financial statements to identify trends and provide recommendations for improvements.

- Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and company policies.

- Monitor and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial data. Requirements - Proven experience in accounting, with a focus on month-end close processes.

- Strong knowledge of general ledger management and journal entries.

- Proficiency in account and bank reconciliation practices.

- Familiarity with accounting principles and regulatory standards.

- Advanced skills in financial analysis and problem-solving.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.

- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.

- Effective communication skills to collaborate with teams and stakeholders.
