Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Des Moines, Iowa. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in managing property accounting processes, overseeing fixed asset management, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of accounting principles and a proven ability to collaborate across departments.

Responsibilities:

- Manage property accounting functions, including recording, reconciling, and reviewing property transactions.

- Maintain and update fixed asset registers to ensure accurate tracking, capitalization, and depreciation.

- Prepare and analyze financial reports related to property and fixed assets, providing insights to support decision-making.

- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies regarding asset capitalization and management.

- Conduct periodic audits of property and asset records to verify accuracy and integrity.

- Collaborate with teams across departments to provide financial analysis for property-related initiatives.

- Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts for property and fixed assets.

- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in property accounting practices.

- Support month-end close procedures by preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.

- Utilize accounting systems such as Net Suite, Oracle, or SAP to streamline reporting and analysis. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- At least 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on property accounting and fixed assets.

- Solid understanding of accounting principles, especially those related to asset management and capitalization.

- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

- Strong analytical abilities with exceptional attention to detail.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams.

- Experience with accounting systems such as Net Suite, Oracle, or SAP.

- Ability to manage month-end close processes, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
