Accountant - Bookkeeper

worksiA reputable organization in the Des Moines area is searching for a detail-oriented Accountant/Bookkeeper to play a key role in supporting day-to-day financial operations. In this role, you will provide light human resources and administrative assistance to ensure smooth office and employee processes. Strong candidates for this position will have an accounting degree and at least five years of related experience.

• On-Site

• Prepared monthly financial statements and maintained GAAP compliance
• Monitored general ledger activity and resolved accounting discrepancies
• Processed bi-weekly payroll and managed related taxes, benefits, reimbursements, and retirement contributions
• Submitted monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax filings
• Recorded vendor invoices, assigned GL expenses, and administered accounts payable
• Generated customer invoices, applied payments, and managed accounts receivable follow-up
• Resolved customer billing inquiries and distributed monthly account statements
• Coordinated employee onboarding, employment documentation, and benefits forms
• Managed administrative operations, including phone coverage, office supplies, facilities, and vendor services
• Supported insurance renewals, workers' compensation audits, employee events, and year-end CPA audit preparation

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting
• Minimum five years of hands-on accounting experience
• Demonstrated experience using Sage 50 or similar accounting software
