Leave Specialist – Ruan Transportation Management Systems
This position works at the Ruan Campus located downtown Des Moines, IA.
Administer the Leave of Absence program to ensure compliance with state and federal leave of absence laws. Identify leave types, approve or deny requests for leave, calculate and monitor leave duration, and coordinate return to work. Review facts and circumstances of specific leave cases with disclosures, DOT guidelines and documentation to approve returns to work.
Responsibilities- Interpret and apply federal and state leave of absence laws, union contracts, and company leave of absence policies.
- Process leave status updates.
- Send initial leave of absence eligibility packets and leave notifications. Receive, process, track, document and retain completed leave of absence documentation.
- Make determination for return to work for those on medical leave while ensuring DOT guidelines have been met. Coordinate DOT clearance with third party administrator.
- Leave of absence reporting to monitor opened and closed leaves. Maintain statistical data to evaluate trends.
- Partner to help create and execute leave of absence training.
- Perform customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions as the main point of contact for leave of absence.
- Complete disability questionnaires and return to the vendor or state agencies.
- Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
