Volunteer Assistant Instructional Designer

Gender Freedom Society is a 100% volunteer‑run 501(c)(3) nonprofit based virtually in the United States. We are dedicated to educating and supporting the transgender community while striving to normalize transgender existence within broader society. Through educational platforms, outreach efforts, and moderated social media, we cultivate a culture where transgender rights are respected, and gender diversity is celebrated as vital to human identity.

The Assistant Instructional Designer will play a key role in the education team, focusing on assisting with leading the team of Instructional Designers in creating high‑quality, engaging, and effective learning experiences. The role collaborates with the Instructional Design Team and subject‑matter experts to design, develop, and implement instructional content, ensuring that learning programs meet organizational goals and the needs of learners.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instructional design, curriculum development, and education, with experience crafting innovative learning solutions.

• Assist in leading the Instructional Design Team in creating trainings and educational content, managing projects, and determining future projects.
• Design, develop, and implement instructional content and learning programs, including trainings for volunteers and for outside organizations.
• Collaborate with the Instructional Design Team and subject‑matter experts to align learning solutions with organizational goals, learner needs, and best practices in instructional design.
• Apply instructional design principles (e.g., ADDIE, AGILE) to create effective and engaging learning experiences across various formats, including asynchronous trainings and live sessions.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of learning programs and make data‑driven adjustments to improve learner outcomes and engagement.
• Maintain and update existing instructional materials to ensure they are relevant and aligned with evolving educational standards and goals.
• Support the integration of technology in the learning process, including learning management systems (LMS) and other digital tools.
• Attend meetings, collaborate on project teams, and contribute to advancing educational initiatives across the organization.

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field.
• Master’s degree, preferably in Instructional Design, Education, or a related field.
• Strong background in instructional design and curriculum development, with hands‑on experience creating learning programs and content.
• Proficiency with instructional design tools (e.g., Articulate, Adobe Captivate) and learning management systems (LMS).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex information.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to manage a team and work independently.
• Knowledge of current educational trends, technologies, and best practices in instructional design.
