English Language Teacher in West Des Moines, Iowa

Join the Global LT community and help provide language lessons to business professionals and their families worldwide. We are hiring an English Language Teacher to provide in-person lessons to our client.

• Student:
  Adult (male, professional)

• Location:
  
  West Des Moines, Iowa – near Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church on 8051 EP True Pkwy

• Preferred start date:
  As soon as possible

• Availability:
  Monday through Friday evenings after work, or weekends

• Frequency:
  Once a week; 1-hour lessons

• Current English level:
  High Advanced (to be assessed by teacher)

• Student's native language:
  Mandarin

• Goals:

  • Improve pronunciation and sound more like a native speaker

  • Strengthen persuasive and public speaking skills

  • Practice informal communication, including small talk and workplace conversations

  • Learn local accents, idioms, slang, and everyday expressions

  • Refine business English for presentations, meetings, and professional discussions

  • Build fluency and confidence in both casual and formal contexts

• Additional Information:

  • Motivated and engaged learner who enjoys conversation practice

  • Prefers structured but varied lessons, including interactive activities and games

  • Open to meeting specialists for specific communication goals

  • Regularly practices English independently and with others

• Develop customized lessons to refine advanced communication skills

• Focus on pronunciation, fluency, and persuasive speech techniques

• Incorporate role-play for workplace, presentation, and social scenarios

• Provide structured lessons with clear goals and feedback

• Introduce idiomatic expressions, slang, and cultural nuances to enhance native-like fluency

• Maintain a motivating, professional learning environment

• Native or near-native proficiency in English

• A degree in language teaching, linguistics, communication, philology, or a related field

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching Business or Advanced English

• Pronunciation coaching experience or experience teaching lessons for accent reduction preferred

• Ability to adapt lessons for both professional and conversational contexts
