Assesses the educational and employability status of clients participating in House of Mercy’s Adult Programming areas and assists participants in establishing educational goals and implementing strategies to enhance educational status as a means for expanding self-sufficiency options. Provides individual and group counseling services for the purposes of promoting self-sufficiency. Applies concepts of recovery and client‑centered care to improve outcomes. Coordinates internal/external services to provide as complete a continuum of care as possible.
Builds relationships with community employers and programs to maximize client opportunities toward accomplishing their self‑sufficiency goals.
Essential Functions
- Assesses educational and employment status of adult clients and develops a comprehensive, realistic plan to enhance their education/employment status.
- Collaborates with the treatment team regarding the development/implementation of client educational/vocational/personal finance management goals.
- Provides individual and group education/counseling services in support of self‑sufficiency goals.
- Assists with critical tasks related to pursuit/achievement of employment goals, i.e. job skills development training, coordination of in‑house experience, assessing job readiness, monitoring work performance for job retention, etc.
- Assists clients in achieving their educational goals through completion of necessary requirements to enter/maintain involvement in an educational program, i.e. assistance in completing financial aid papers, determining class schedules, etc.
Minimum Knowledge,
Skills And Abilities
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a human services, education, or vocational rehabilitation related field, required.
- Master’s Degree in a vocational rehabilitation related area of study, preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience preferred.
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within first 30 days of employment.
- Previous experience working with chemically dependent or “at risk” clientele preferred.
- Ability to understand medical terminology and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals.
