School Improvement Consultant
The Iowa Department of Education seeks a dedicated individual to serve as the school improvement consultant for all school districts and accredited non‑public schools in the Northwest and Prairie Lakes Area Education Agencies.
Your Responsibilities- Leading accreditation/improvement activities for districts and schools.
- Writing accreditation reports pursuant to visits, including areas of strength and non‑compliance.
- Providing districts and schools with technical assistance to maintain compliance with state and federal law and improve results.
- Attending Superintendents’ meetings in the AEA.
- Participating in AEA accreditation visits.
- Participating in the development and implementation of a tiered accreditation/differentiated accountability system for school improvement.
- Defining a tiered system of supports for districts and schools in Iowa.
- Other duties as assigned.

Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday; some nights and weekends, occasional in‑state and out‑of‑state travel.

- Experience utilizing Microsoft Suite.

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
- Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university and five years of full‑time post‑graduate work experience in any one or a combination of the following areas:
- Professional training, teaching, or counseling experience in an educational setting;
- Professional administrative experience in an educational setting;
- Professional finance, accounting, or auditing experience, including the preparation or analysis of financial statements;
