Job SummaryManage the Landfill Gas to Energy Facility to maximize production while ensuring safe work practices, environmental compliance, timely maintenance, and coordination with landfill management and operations. The technician acts as a plant owner and will be available as needed to meet facility objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Analyze operational data to plan actions and reduce plant operating expenses while minimizing equipment downtime.
- Inspect activities for safety and environmental compliance and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Provide corrective action recommendations for recurring shutdowns or equipment de‑rating.
- Ensure compliance with all operational requirements of the air permit, perform emissions tests and adjust equipment to meet limits.
- Represent WMRE during third‑party testing and regulatory inspections.
- Coordinate all third‑party vendors for scheduled maintenance, unscheduled downtime, compliance, and well‑field issues.
- Serve as the first point of contact for power/gas purchasers and enforce agreements and scheduling requirements.
- Inspect, repair, maintain, and service plant machinery and equipment per SOPs, manuals, and WMRE policies.
- Implement WM and WMRE safety policies and ensure adherence by staff, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
- Complete mandatory safety and operational training assignments.
- Procure plant supplies and replacement equipment while managing vendors and the annual budget.
- Respond to plant shutdowns during non‑business hours, diagnose issues, and perform corrective actions.
- Identify backup staff and manage call‑out schedules to ensure 24/7 coverage.
- Maintain spare inventory and provide an inventory count twice annually.
- Schedule and conduct plant tours to support community relations.
- Represent WMRE in public forums and develop ongoing community relations.
- Complete special assignments as required by management.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED (accredited).
- Experience: 5 years of relevant work diagnosing and repairing internal combustion engines and cooling systems.
- Licenses: Valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge &
Skills:- Fundamental computer data entry and interpretation.
- Ability to manage fiduciary responsibilities.
- Physical strength to lift at least 100 lbs.
- Travel up to 15% with overnight stays.
- Diagnose and repair DC circuits 12/24 V.
- Basic knowledge of 120/240/480 V 3‑phase AC circuits.
- Understanding of 4160 V circuits.
- Basic principles of building maintenance.
Normal setting: shop/power plant environment. The position is salaried and eligible for overtime.
