Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer; Data Centers

Overview

Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer (Data Centers) – Des Moines, IA. This role focuses on planning, coordinating, and executing electrical commissioning for data center infrastructure, ensuring safety, quality, and alignment with design intent and project requirements.

• Support all aspects of safety for electrical tests.
• Execute complete commissioning and performance acceptance testing of electrical infrastructure systems.
• Perform QA/QC of all electrical test procedures.
• Contribute to the overall commissioning plan and generate daily/weekly reports for the Commissioning Project Manager.
• Participate in customer equipment Factory Witness Test and assist with vendor coordination and management.
• Perform equipment inspections to ensure adherence to vendor submittals.
• Provide test documentation that equipment is delivered, installed, and tested correctly and set to function for the customer.
• Review design specifications, manufacturer submittals, one-line drawings, and project schedules.
• QA/QC electrical equipment installation/startup and execute test scripts to verify operation against design specifications.
• Maintain safe work practices on site and engage with customers to ensure a positive experience and schedule adherence.
• Provide daily reports on electrical commissioning team status; conduct facility walk-downs, turnover, and punch list reviews.
• Demonstrate a general understanding of LEED specifications and requirements; identify opportunities to provide value.
• Assist in identifying new opportunities for CAI to deliver services.
• Adapt duties as experience and skill grow.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of five to seven years Data Center Commissioning experience

• Knowledge of OSHA and NFPA 70E safety requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and specifications.
• Knowledge of data center design concepts and commissioning experience with Electrical Distribution Switchgear, Substations, UPS, ATS, Batteries, Emergency Diesel Generators & Load Banks.
• Knowledge of power quality analysis.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; able to write commissioning scripts and reports.
• Extensive travel may be required (up to 75%).
• Candidates must have a Passport or be able to obtain one immediately.
• Work under construction site conditions and be able to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.
